Clemson'a MLK 2024 service features Sellers as Keynote

Clemson University, South Carolina -  Martin Luther King Jr, Commemorative Service was held on January 16, 2024 and featured a distinguished speaker, Bakari Sellers, Former SC Representative and current CNN Contributor.  This marks 42nd Annual Commemorative Service started in January 1982 by a group of men who later chartered Pi Alpha Chapter at Clemson in 1983. 

Mr. Sellers, who is the son of Civil Rights Cleveland Sellers, spoke his experience as a young child during the event of the Orangeburg Massacre which more 50 years on the campus of South Carolina State University. His speech was a powerful example of the effect of Jim Crow in South Carolina.

Pi Alpha has participated as leading contributor the effort which an university effort in 1999.  University President Jim Clements spoke and give out three Community Service Awards to Staff/Faculty, Students, and Community leaders.  The Gospel Choir sang a few selections. 500 people attended the service. 

One of those awardees (MLK Staff Service Award) was PANAC's own,  Dr. Kenneth Robinson, current Sociology Professor at Clemson University and one of the group who started the program.  Of course, Bro. Robinson is a charter member of Pi Alpha Chapter.
